Hackathons are a great way to not only engage communities and inspire innovation, but also to use open data in a positive, goal-oriented way. However, hackathons are generally a waste of time - they're more often than not fire and forget. HackerNest wants to change this; we want to help the government run effective, powerful hackathons with lasting, socially-beneficial results. Within this 2-year time frame, we would like to develop an effective relationship with the government, and help run at least one hackathon (who knows - maybe even with regards to the Open Government platform!).
